About Mr. Davis

Why I Teach Voice

George L. Davis II

Every singer has something powerful to say. My job is to give you the tools to say it with clarity, freedom, and confidence. The best part of my work is watching students realize their voice can do more than they thought, whether that's a secure high note, a phrase that moves an audience, or walking into an audition with calm authority.

I'm George L. Davis II, vocalist, music educator, and performance coach based in Buffalo, NY. For 20+ years I've taught singers at every level: Broadway hopefuls, worship leaders, working artists, and beginners. I hold a degree in Music Education, teach at the high school level, and run this private studio focused on sustainable technique and honest artistry.

Lessons are available in person or online. Each session blends technique, stylistic coaching, and practical performance tools. We work on tone clarity, breath support, endurance, range, diction/phrasing, and genre-aware style, customized to your voice and goals. No shortcuts. No gimmicks. Just consistent, measurable growth.

10 Things You Need to Know About Working with Mr. Davis

1. I expect you to show up ready to work

Warm up before we meet. Bring your music. Be on time.

2. Growth takes time

Quick fixes don't build lasting technique. We're in this for the long haul.

3. I will be honest with you

Encouragement without truth doesn't help you grow. I'll tell you what's working and what needs attention.

4. Technique is never perfected

Even professional singers continue to refine their technique. Great lessons are about small, specific corrections that help you unlock consistency and freedom.

5. You want correction

Correction doesn't mean you're a bad singer. It means you're growing. If you're serious, you should expect feedback that stretches you every time we meet.

6. We need to hear mistakes

The voice cracks. The pitch issues. The awkward phrases. That's where we do our best work. Show up with honesty, and we'll build something great.

7. You need to sing out without hesitation

Don't hold back. We need to hear your full voice - even the messy parts. Growth starts when you sing freely, not perfectly.

8. Challenge yourself

Try music outside your comfort zone. Different styles and techniques grow your vocal skills faster than repeating what's already easy.

9. Make peace with your voice

Stop comparing yourself to other singers. Your voice is unique. Our job is to find what makes it strong and build from there.

10. Commit to the process

Real change takes consistent coaching, not just a few drop-in lessons. If you're serious about growth, make lessons a regular part of your schedule.
